The Safety Portal

Your safety is our absolute priority. We built the SKOOP wheel loader to deliver exceptional power and reliability on your job site, but we know that true project success means every operator goes home safe at the end of the shift.

We created this Safety Portal to provide you with straightforward, practical guidance to protect yourself, your crew, and your equipment. When you prioritize safe operating habits, you build a more productive and secure working environment.

Basic Safety Guidelines

Operating heavy machinery requires focus, discipline, and a strict commitment to best practices. Follow these core safety rules every time you operate your SKOOP wheel loader.

  • Wear Proper Gear: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing.
  • Use Three Points of Contact: Never jump into or out of the cab. Face the machine and keep two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand, securely on the steps and grab rails at all times.
  • Buckle Up: Secure your seatbelt as soon as you sit down. The roll-over protection structure (ROPS) only protects you if you remain securely in the seat.
  • Establish a Clear Work Zone: Keep bystanders and ground workers far away from the active operating area. Make eye contact with ground crew members before moving the machine.
  • Stay Alert: Never operate the wheel loader if you feel fatigued. Keep your full attention on your surroundings and avoid using mobile devices while in the cab.

Pre-Operation Checklist

A safe shift starts before you turn the key. Performing a thorough walkaround inspection prevents accidents and protects your investment. Complete this checklist before your first load of the day.

  • Fluid Levels: Check the engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and coolant levels. Look underneath the loader for any signs of active leaks or pooling fluids.
  • Tire Condition: Inspect all tires for deep cuts, uneven wear, and proper inflation.
  • Attachment Security: Verify that the bucket or forks are securely locked onto the quick coupler. Check all locking pins and hydraulic connections.
  • Structural Inspection: Look for cracks, bent metal, or loose bolts on the loader arms and chassis.
  • Safety Devices: Test the horn, backup alarm, and all exterior work lights to ensure they function properly. Clean the cab windows and mirrors for maximum visibility.

Safe Lifting Techniques

The SKOOP wheel loader is built to handle heavy materials, but you must respect the physical limits of the machine. Use these lifting techniques to maintain balance and total control.

  • Know Your Limits: Always check the machine’s load chart before lifting. Never exceed the rated operating capacity for your specific attachment.
  • Keep the Load Low: When transporting materials, lower the bucket so it sits just a few inches above the ground. A low center of gravity provides the best stability.
  • Travel Smoothly: Avoid sudden stops, rapid acceleration, or sharp turns, especially when carrying a full bucket. Jerky movements can cause the load to shift or the machine to tip.
  • Navigate Slopes Carefully: Never drive horizontally across a steep slope. Travel straight up and straight down inclines. When carrying a load on a hill, keep the heavy bucket pointed straight uphill.
  • Load Evenly: Center your materials inside the bucket or evenly across the pallet forks to maintain proper balance from side to side.
